Hu, Susan C.

Professor Susan C. Hu specializes in health promotion and health behaviors. She is one of the earliest and ongoing public health scholars in Taiwan committed to the Healthy Cities project, and is a seasoned activist and pioneer in the field of health promotion. Her efforts to promote the Healthy Cities program in Tainan City are renowned both domestically and internationally, and the experiences and models from the Healthy Cities have been expanded to multiple cities across Taiwan. In addition, Professor Hu's research interests includes (1) Tobacco, alcohol, and betel nut studies, (2) Healthy diet, exercise, and weight loss behaviors, (3) Retirement and active aging research, and (4) Disability and frailty prevention studies.In recent years, Professor Hu has particularly focused on transnational issues of neighborhood environments, health behaviors, and well-being, engaging in extensive collaboration with Hong Kong, the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Belgium.
